This holiday season, we are honored to donate $12,000 to support the Carroll County Food Sunday‘s (CCFS) annual holiday ham distribution! This contribution will provide hundreds of families with delicious ham for their holiday meals, ensuring everyone in our community can partake in a joyful celebration.

For over 40 years, Carroll County Food Sunday has collected and distributed nutritionally balanced grocery packages through its county-wide food bank network. CCFS distributes weekly meals to over 550 families between the Westminster, Eldersburg and Taneytown locations.

We are incredibly proud to support and partner with an organization that shares our compassion and community service values. By working together, we can help families enjoy a warm, hearty meal this holiday season. First Financial has proudly served Carroll County for over 30 years and we are delighted to give back and make this holiday season truly special for our community!

The First Financial team was excited to return to The Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools‘ sold-out Designer Bag BINGO for the second year in a row! This event has quickly become a favorite for us and this year was no exception. From the excitement of winning name-brand purses to the fun of special games, raffles and door prizes, our team had an absolute blast. And to top it off, we even had a few lucky winners!

We were also honored to participate as a Trendsetting Game Sponsor to support our partner’s event and the incredible work they do for the schools in our community.

But the real winner of the night was Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS). The proceeds from this event go towards supporting the Foundation’s two brick-and-mortar collaborative education resource centers, The Exchangeree. BCPS educators can visit The Exchangeree locations, located in Windsor Mill and Rosedale/Golden Ring, during the year to access the school supplies and resources they need to help their students and classrooms thrive.

Knowing our participation helps support our local educators, students and schools makes the evening even more special! Thank you to the Education Foundation for hosting a fantastic evening!

First Financial volunteers and Limitless Leaders had a blast taking over Junior Achievement of Central Maryland’s JA Finance Park! Located in Halethrope, Maryland, this innovative program gives middle and high school students the chance to practice personal financial planning through an engaging, hands-on budgeting simulation.

During the activity, students explore various storefronts, where they must make smart financial choices related to income, expenses, savings and credit—all while developing their own personal budget!

Beyond volunteering, First Financial proudly sponsors a storefront at the JA Finance Park. The Limitless Leaders, First Financial’s emerging professionals, actively participate in professional development, networking events, and volunteer opportunities, making a positive impact on the community.

As a credit union rooted in education, we’re passionate about supporting the youth in our community beyond the classroom. Partnering with JA has been an incredible opportunity to provide financial education and guidance to help students achieve financial success both now and in the future. Thank you to JA for this fun experience to connect with the students and we look forward to next time!

This year, First Financial teamed up with the junior class at Maryvale Preparatory School to dive into financial wellness, wrapping up the program with a fun-filled session of Adulting 101! Our enthusiastic volunteers, including some Board Members and Senior Management, joined 90 students to navigate the interactive budgeting simulation.

In Adulting 101, students embark on a journey through various stations where they must make budgeting decisions for housing, transportation, childcare (if necessary), health insurance, groceries and more. The twist? They must stick to their unique “life scenario” that includes a career, salary, family situation, and possibly student loans.

The First Financial team is there every step of the way, guiding students to make smart financial choices. This program is a fantastic opportunity for students to learn and practice financial wellness skills they can use now and in the future!

As a credit union founded by an educator, we’re dedicated to providing free and fun financial education and resources to the youth in our community. Thanks for having us, Maryvale!

First Financial is proud to support the students, families and communities of Somerset and Worcester Counties by donating $10,000 to the public schools and their programs.

Supporting Judy Centers

First Financial donated $2,500 each to the Somerset County and Worcester County Judy Centers to support their upcoming events and initiatives benefitting families in the community. The Judy Centers work with the public school systems to support families with young children by connecting them with local services such as adult education, health screenings, family activities and more.

Our donation will sponsor the Somerset County Judy Center’s 2nd Annual School Readiness Fair on March 14th, featuring Buster the Bus, a family concert, and a free takeaway dinner for children ages Pre-K3 to Kindergarten.

The Worcester County Judy Center will use our donation for their 3rd Annual Community Baby Shower, providing new and expectant mothers with education, motivation, and resources.

Worcester County Public Schools FIT Program

We also contributed $5,000 to the Worcester County Public Schools (WCPS) Families in Transition (FIT) Program. This program helps homeless students by providing clothing, food, transportation, and temporary housing, ensuring they have the resources to continue their education.

Our team is honored to support these organizations and their impactful programs, helping families in our community thrive!
