We were excited to partner with the Maryland Realtors Association of Carroll County as they joined First Financial’s Youth Outreach Team to lead our Adulting 101 simulation at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carroll County! This was the first time the program was held after school at the Club for middle and high school students.
Adulting 101 takes students through a given monthly budget. By visiting different stations and volunteers, students decide how much of their income per month they want to allocate to everyday expenses such as groceries, clothing, education, childcare (if needed), and more!
As a credit union founded by educators, First Financial is committed to providing free and interactive resources to the youth in our community. Adulting 101 is just one of many ways the credit union helps prepare students for their continued success and long‑term financial well‑being.
Interested in scheduling Adulting 101 for your classroom? Please contact our Youth Outreach Team at youthoutreach@firstfinancial.org.
One of our favorite holiday traditions is joining the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carroll County for their Annual Christmas Drive and celebration! This year marked our fourth year as a proud sponsor, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to continue supporting this festive event.
The BGC Christmas Party was a huge success, filled with joy, laughter and unforgettable moments for the Club kids. Every child received something they want, something they need, something to eat, and something to read. We absolutely loved seeing their smiles and always enjoy making their holidays brighter!
Since our partnership began in 2018, we’ve been committed to supporting the Club’s programs and initiatives to empower the kids and give back to the youth in our community. We’re proud to partner with the Boys & Girls Clubs in their mission to make a difference and inspire all young people to achieve their full potential.
Here’s to many more years of spreading holiday cheer and supporting the incredible kids who make our community so special! Happy Holidays!
First Financial was proud to recently donate $34,568 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carroll County to support their “Power Hour” program, an after-school initiative to support learning outside of the classroom. Power Hour provides homework support, tutoring, and creative learning opportunities beyond the classroom for participating kids!
First Financial’s donation will be used to hire tutors from fellow FFFCU partner McDaniel College who will help aid in homework support and offering one-on-one tutoring to student for the 2025-26 academic school year.
Programs like the Power Hour are crucial to provide the academic support students need to succeed. At First Financial, we’re proud to help make these opportunities available for the youth in our community!
First Financial was excited to partner with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carroll County again for their annual Lemonade Stand. The kids raised over $400 this year to fund activities and programs at their Club!
While running a lemonade stand is fun, it’s also an important summer entrepreneurship project where the kids learn the fundamentals of running a successful business. First Financial helped the kids prepare their product, create marketing and promotional signs, provide customer service, manage proceeds and more. Each of the kids had an equally important role in making the lemonade stand a success this year!
The kids served up fresh-squeezed lemonade and offered a summertime Baltimore favorite – lemon with peppermint sticks. The BGCCC Lemonade Stand opened for business on Main Street, ready to serve cold, refreshing treats to the Westminster community!
Financial education is incredibly important, especially beyond the classroom. Our team is dedicated to providing financial literacy education through interactive and engaging projects – such as the lemonade stand – for the youth in our community!
Thank you to the BGCCC for having us over and the Westminster community for making the day a huge success – and a lot of fun, too!

First Financial’s Relationship Manager, Andrea, was thrilled to meet with Jim Rodriguez, the Operations Director at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carroll County (BGCCC), to deliver 400 books to the North Carroll Clubhouse!
The Credit Union donated a range of books for elementary to adult reading levels. The books were collected from First Financial’s annual employee drive and a visit to the Maryland Book Bank.
We’re proud to partner with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carroll County and contribute to their fantastic programs and initiatives for students in our community! Thanks to the generous donation from our employees, the books will help support their students and fill the bookcases for the new Clubhouse, expected to open in October.
