Information You Should Know:
International Transactions with Your Visa Credit and Debit Cards
Let Us Know Before You Go!
Recent dramatic increases in fraud due to counterfeit credit and debit cards have prompted First Financial to tighten its security concerning international transactions. At this time, your Visat Credit and Debit cards will only work in foreign countries if you notify First Financial of your travel plans. We will then activate your card(s) for use in the specific countries you will be traveling during your trip abroad, and “deactivate” your card at the conclusion of your trip.
To avoid any inconvenience, we recommend that you call before you leave, but your card can be "activated" at any time during your trip when you call Member Services during our business hours. For questions or to "activate" your card during your international travel, call Member Services at 410-321-6060, ext. 780.

Changes to International Transactions Disclosure
Effective April 2, 2005
Purchases and cash advances you make in foreign countries and foreign currencies will be billed to you in U.S. dollars. The conversion to dollars will be made by the foreign VISAt merchant’s bank in accordance with the VISA operating regulations for international transactions. The exchange rate between the transaction currency and the billing currency used for processing international transactions is a rate selected by Visa from the range of rates available in wholesale currency markets for the applicable central processing date, which rate may vary from the rate Visa itself receives, or the government-mandated rate in effect for the applicable central processing date.
The conversion rate in effect on the processing date may differ from the rate in effect on the transaction or posting date. When a credit amount does not fully offset an original charge amount due to the changes in the rate, you are responsible for the differences. All international transactions will include VISA’s one percent (1%) International Service Assessment Fee (which replaces VISA’s current 1% currency conversion fee) regardless of whether there is a currency conversion associated with the transaction.
