Scholarship Program

Additional Scholarship Opportunities:

In 2008 First Financial FCU offered six, $5,000 college scholarships to graduating high school seniors within First Financial's field of membership.

The funding for these one-year college scholarships was made possible through the KidsFirst Fund. Through this fund, a percentage of all member purchases made with a First Financial Visa credit card is donated to help children in the Credit Union community.

Eligibility requirements for the Scholarships was as follows:

  1. Parent or student must be a member in good standing of the First Financial Federal Credit Union.

  2. A letter of interest.

  3. Character references from two individuals other than teachers or school administrators. (Please indicate on reference that it is a "character" reference.)

  4. Academic references from two references who have taught or counseled the applicant in school.

  5. A transcript of high school record/G.P.A.

  6. A record of SAT/ACT scores.

  7. A letter stating school and community activities.

  8. A copy of 2007 tax return(s).

There is no restriction on the school or field of study chosen by the scholarship recipient. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Some rules and restrictions apply and are fully disclosed on the scholarship application.

2008 Scholarship award recipients were notified by phone in April 2008. All other applicants were notified by letter. Award presentations was made at First Financial's 2008 Annual Meeting on April 17, 2008 and at the winning scholars' high school awards assemblies.
