Channel 2 News Lands at the Owl BranchABC 2 News crews recently visited First Financial Federal Credit Union's Owl branch at Dundalk High School. Reporter Sherrie Johnson interviewed the Owl branch student interns, First Financial FCU President/CEO Rob Windsor and Dundalk High School Principal, Peggy Johnson regarding their experiences with the first student run high school branch in the Baltimore metropolitan area. The Owl Branch, named for the Dundalk High School mascot, serves students, faculty and staff of the High School. It is open for business every other day, during lunch hours and is run by 5 upper classmen and a faculty advisor. The services available at the branch include account opening, deposits, limited cash withdrawals and information about the services of First Financial FCU. The student-run branch operates in an off-line environment with final processing of transactions taking place at a nearby full service branch of the Credit Union. This initiative is one of many youth programs First Financial FCU has in place to address the growing need for financial literacy among high school students. The Credit Union also works in conjunction with high schools to teach classes on financial matters such as credit management, maintaining a checking account, understanding credit & debit cards and choosing a financial institution.
