Student Run Credit Union Branch Opens at Dundalk High School

The Owl Branch, named for the Dundalk High School mascot, serves students, faculty and staff of the High School. It is open for business every other day, during lunch hours and is run by 5 senior classmen and a faculty advisor. The services available at the branch include account opening, deposits, limited cash withdrawals and information about the services of First Financial FCU. The student-run branch operates in an off-line environment with final processing of transactions taking place at a nearby full service branch of the Credit Union. “This is a great opportunity to work with high school students and the school system to teach the importance of basic personal finance skills,” said Rob Windsor, President/CEO of First Financial FCU. This initiative is one of many youth programs First Financial FCU has in place to address the growing need for financial literacy among high school students. The Credit Union also works in conjunction with high schools within their field of membership to teach classes on financial matters such as credit management, maintaining a checking account, understanding credit & debit cards and choosing a financial institution. To schedule a Speakers Bureau presentation or for more information, please contact the Marketing Department at 410-427-8954 or by email at cjones@firstfinancial.org
